About Nia I. Gilliam

An Airline Transport Pilot with over thirty years of flying experience and a Bachelor of Science in Aviation Management and Flight from Southern Illinois University @ Carbondale (SIUC). She has earned aircraft type ratings in the B737, B757/767, B777, and B787. Representing less than 1% of professional pilots, Nia cofounded Sisters of the Skies, a nationally recognized non-profit organization with the mission of increasing this percentage. Sisters of the Skies is the 2023 recipient of the Henderson Trophy, a distinguished award presented by the National Aeronautic Association and displayed at the National Air and Space Museum. Nia is the proud mother of her twenty-one-year-old corporate pilot son, and thirteen-year-old daughter who loves to travel but is not interested in becoming a pilot.
